1) “Sudden Death” – Quelle Chris, Chris Keys

Masterpiece. A song better on each listen. I’m late to discovering Quelle Chris as he’s already had 15 albums, and one titled “Guns” from last year highlighted gun violence in the US which I will be checking out.

 Single: “Sudden Death” (2020)
Label: Mello Music Group

2) “Show Me What You Got (feat. Jordan Rakei)” – Richard Spaven

One of the best drummers coming out of London according to various drum blogs on the internet. I hadn’t heard of Richard Spaven but interesting to see a drummer putting together an album with an impressive cast.

 Album: “Real Time” (2018)
Label: Fine Line Records

3) “On The Lookout (feat. Raffaella)” – NEIL FRANCES

NEIL FRANCES must be working on something releasing a slew of good tracks throughout 2020, most recently this one. As mentioned in my Monday Music Discoveries 2, they have very cool Spotify canvas music videos and this one is no exception. Teaming up with New Yorker Raffaella, they bust some great moves in that little video.

Single: “On The Lookout (feat. Rafaella)” (2020)
Label: NEIL FRANCES under exclusive license to Nettwerk Music Group

4) “Talks – Mura Masa Dub” – PVA

Not much can be found about this online except a few Reddit shares and a lacking NME article but it seems Mura Masa has been a fan of PVA’s work since their first release and when they asked him to join in the remixes for their latest EP, he leapt at the chance. This is a really cool retro sounding dub that you imagine the Detroit techno scene could have made.

Single: “Talks (Remixes)” (2020)
Label: Big Dada

Nilüfer Yanya profile

Nilüfer Yanya has been a RunPip favourite dating back to April 2019. Following the release of her standout album “Miss Universe” (2019), we were granted with a brilliant debut album that could be listened front to back on multiple occasions, finding a new favourite each time. Unfortunately, 2020 has slowed things down but with a new EP, “Feeling Lucky”, coming out in December and a Pitchfork livestream under her belt from August, I think she can still propel herself into big things. Recent single “Crash” shows she’s prepared to try different styles and sounds which is good to see.

Standout tracks: “Baby Blu”, “In Your Head”, “Hey”

Albums: “Miss Universe” (2019)
