1) “The Comedown” – Ocean Alley

There’s an unintentional Australian theme going on in this playlist, with 3 of the tracks coming from Aussie bands. This was the first Ocean Alley song I heard and I quickly went and listened to the whole album. It’s got a retro, yet modern, sound, with prominent bass guitar parts that sit high in the mix.

Single: “The Comedown” (2017)
Label: Independent

2) “Singularity” – Stephan Bodzin

A lovely piece of minimal techno.

Album:”Power of Ten” (2015)
Label: Herzblut Recordings

3) “Six Different Ways” – The Cure

I’m definitely guilty of being a ‘Best Of’ Cure fan, so I was glad when I discovered this track. It was being played on BBC Radio 6 Music and I was hooked instantly.

Album: “The Head On The Door” (1985)
Label: Polydor

4) “Time In Common” – Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

I’d waited eagerly for the new Rolling Blackouts C.F album to drop and it certainly hasn’t disappointed. This is a stand out track for me. Chilled out, beachy vibes from the Aussies.

Album: “Hope Downs” (2018)
Label: Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

5) “Head of a Snake” – Fourward

This is a really exciting new release from the Austrian drum & bass outfit.

Single: “Head of a Snake” (2018)
Label: Elevate Records

6) “Psychotic Episode” – Royal Headache

Another Australian band who, sadly, are no longer together. Lo Fi, catchy, punk/garage rock – these guys have quickly become a favourite of mine. This track is from their debut S/T album.

Album: “Royal Headache” (2012)
Label: What’s Your Rupture

7) “Balance” – Future Islands

I’ve been a fan of Future Islands for a while now, with Singles being one of my favourite albums, but it’s only recently that I’ve started listening to their earlier releases. Balance is a fantastic track with the drive and energy that Future Islands are renowned for.

Album: “On the Water” (2011)
Live: Thrill Jockey Records

8) “Witchdance Dub” – Death In Vegas, Richard Fearless

Closing this month’s playlist is this great remix by Fearless. Ambient and atmospheric, it’s the perfect night driving tune.

Single: “Honey” (2018)
Label: Drone
