1) “Flowers To My Demons” – NNAMDÏ
An absolute corker. Undervalued and deserves to be heard. Described as an introspective valentines day single, only a genius could come up with this.
Album: “BRAT” (2020)
Label: Sooper Records
2) “La Perla” – Sofia Kourtesis
People making indie films that need a great soundtrack song will rejoice at this. Sofia Kourtesis is a Berlin based, Peruvian artist. This track was released on Ninja Tune imprint Technicolour.
Speaking of the track she says:
“Although I’ve sampled my own voice before, this is the first time I’ve really sung on a track. My dream is to develop a live show and I created “La Perla” with that in mind. “La Perla” is about staring at the sea, It’s the first thing I’ll do when I return to Peru. My dad used to say staring at the sea is like meditation, it clears your head. This song is for him. It’s hard for me to listen to La Perla as I wrote it during a time I lost my dad to leukaemia. This song is for him, descansa en paz papa.”
Single: “La Perla” (2021)
3) “Lockdown Blues” – Erlend Øye, La Comitiva
This captures the feeling I’m sure we’re all going through and therefore makes the list to add to the time capsule effect of curating these playlists.
Single: “Lockdown Blues” (2021)
Label: BUBBLES REC
4) “Videogames” – Matty
The keyboardist from band Badbadnotgood showing the range he is capable of.

5) “Sound and Vision” – Helado Negro
A great David Bowie cover and the lyrics resonate very well with being in a lockdown.
BBE Music unveils the second single from forthcoming David Bowie tribute “Modern Love” released on May 28 2021. The tribute album also features Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Kit Sebastian, Jeff Parker, Sessa, The Hics, Khruangbin, Nia Andrews, Foxtrott, L’Rain, Eddie Chacon & John Carroll Kirby, Jonah Mutono, Bullion, Meshell Ndegeocello, Matthew Tavares and We Are KING.
Originally released as the first single from Bowie’s 1977 album “Low”, “Sound and Vision” represented the artist’s gradual recovery from drug addiction. He said the song was about “wanting to be put in a little cold room with omnipotent blue on the walls and blinds on the windows.”
Helado Negro said: “the cover I imagined was something living in between sleep and awake where sound and vision dominate. Residue from your dream state mixed in with waking up and stirring into what the day will be.”
